Australian police say Bondi Beach attackers inspired by ISIL

Australia is mourning the victims of its worst mass shooting in nearly three decades.
The Australian police say the two men accused of carrying out a deadly shooting at a Jewish Hanukkah celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach that killed 15 people were “inspired” by the ISIL (ISIS) group.
Public vigils honour the lives lost, with calls growing for stricter gun laws and stronger action against hate speech.
The Prime Minister has pledged new legislation targeting anti-Semitism.
This has sparked a national debate on counter-terrorism measures, as the attackers had prior extremist links.
The nation is united in grief, focusing on remembrance and resilience in the wake of the tragedy.

Al Jazeera’s Danielle Robertson reports from the site of the attack in Sydney.
