Survivor of two US school shootings calls for urgent action on gun violence
The Brown University shooting is the latest in what gun control advocates call an epidemic of gun violence at educational institutions in the US.
More than 150 such incidents were reported at elementary and high schools so far this year, resulting in 53 deaths.
The past decade has seen some especially deadly attacks.
Zoe Waissman was a student at Westglades Middle School in Parkland, adjacent to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
She was 12 years old when she witnessed that shooting and heard the gunshots.
On Saturday, she heard them again this time in Brown University where she’s a student.
She talked to Al Jazeera about the mental health trauma involved in being caught up in two school shootings.
